NDA (2) Application Form 2019

For NDA (2), Online application can be done by 3 September (6:00 PM) at upsconline.nic.in. The application form can be filled in two parts - Part I and II. The application process has started from 7 August 2019.
  • The application fee is Rs. 100 (except for SC/ST candidates/Sons of JCOs/NCOs/ORs). 
  • Candidates also have the facility to withdraw NDA application form from September 10 to 17, 2019.
  • In Part I of NDA application form, candidates have to fill basic information. 
  • In Part II, candidates have to pay the application fees, select the examination centre, upload photograph and signature and agree to the declaration.

Documents required to fill NDA application form 2019

Before filling the application form, candidates must keep the following documents ready.
  • Scanned images of photograph & signature
  • Photo-identity card in PDF format
  • Bank details to make online transaction
  • Marksheet and admit card of Class 10 and 12
NDA notification has been released by UPSC on August 7, 2019. As per NDA eligibility criteria 2019, candidates between 16.5 and 19.5 years and have passed class 12 or equivalent exam from a recognised board can apply for the exam.

How to Fill NDA Application Form 2019?

NDA Application Form 2019 can be filled in two parts - Part I and II. A step by step guide to fill both parts of the NDA 2019 application form is given below -

Page 1: Candidate’s Details: 

Candidates have to enter the following personal details: Address and educational qualification. In personal details part, candidates need to fill up their name, date of birth, father’s name, mother’s name, Aadhaar number, nationality, fee remission allowed, community, martial status etc. There will be four options indicated by the drop down menu to select education qualification. Candidates need to enter their complete address, email ID and contact number.  

Page 2: Choosing branch preference
  • Applicants need to choose their branches - Indian Army, Air Force and Navy
  • Mark your preference in the order 1 to 4
  • Candidates also need to enter Whether Student of Sanik/Military School or Son of JCO/NCO/Other Rank Officer?
  • Click ‘Continue’ to move to the next page
Page 3: Verify the details
  • Candidates in this part have to verify the details entered in NDA 2019 application form. 
  • Applicants should note that no change will be entertained after final submission. 
  • Select I agree/I do not agree
Page 4: Registration ID Generation
  • Candidates will be able to see their registration ID along with other details like name, father's name, DOB, email ID etc.
  • Candidates have to print their pay-in-slip in this part to pay the application fees through offline.
  • Print Application Form by clicking on the 'Print Application Part-I' tab.
  • To pay the NDA application fee click on the Part II Registration button, select the NDA Examination Center 2019, upload the photo and signature and agree to the declaration.
NDA Registration 2019 – Part 2
Part 2 of NDA application form 2019 consists of three phases :
  1. fee payment 
  2. Selection of examination center
  3. Uploading photograph and signature
Fee Payment
  • Applicants can pay their fee through cash / credit card / debit card or net banking.
  • Those who opt for by pay by cash mode should take a print out of the pay-in-slip generated system during Part II registration. They should deposit the fee at the counter of SBI on the next working day
  • Candidates should note that once they pay the fee that will not be refunded.
Mode of payment  
  • Applicants can pay their fees at any branch of SBI through cash or net banking, Visa / Master Card / RuPay Credit / Debit Card. 
  • Those paying the fee by cash should print the generated pay-in-slip generated during Part II registration and submit the fee.
Selection of exam centre
  • Candidates should choose NDA exam centre as per their suitability
  • They can choose only one centre
  • Allotment of centres will be on the first-apply-first-allot basis
Uploading of photograph and signature
  • Candidates should upload the scanned images of photograph and signature.
  • The file should not exceed 300 kb and must be less than 20 kb
At the bottom of the application page, candidates have to agree on the declaration and submit the form. Registration ID will be generated. To view the application, candidates have to click on the Print View / Print link.

What Documents to Preserve after Final Submission?

How to Edit details in NDA 2019 Application Form?

  • Candidates can make correction in the data entered in the NDA application form within the dates prescribed by the commission.
  • ‘Update’ button is provided at the bottom of application form to move back and make correction in the information entered by the candidates.
  • They are advised to check the data carefully as no edit or change in the information will be allowed after final submission.

Question: What documents are required at the time of filling the NDA application form?
Answer: Candidates only have to upload scanned images of passport size photographs and signatures.

Question: What is NDA Exam?
Answer: NDA is a national level entrance examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for candidates interested in joining National Defence Academy (NDA). The exam is held twice in a year and comprises three levels, the written examination, SSB and personal interview. UPSC is responsible for issuing all the guidelines for selection and final conduct of the entrance examination.

Question: Can a girl apply for NDA 2019?
Answer: No, only male candidates are eligible to apply for the NDA exam.

Question: What are the minimum eligibility criteria to join NDA
Answer: For Army wing- Candidates must have successfully passed class 10th & 12th examination or cleared equivalent examination of the State board to be eligible for NDA 2019. For Air Force or Naval wings and for 10+2 Cadet Entry scheme at the Indian Naval Academy – Passing class 12th examination with Physics and Mathematics as subjects or clearing equivalent examination of the State board. Candidates appearing in class 12th examination or equivalent examination of the State board are also eligible to apply for NDA 2019.

Question: What is the selection procedure of NDA?
Answer: First, there is a written examination. Then shortlisted candidates are called for the SSB interview round and medical examination for final selection

Question: What is the maximum limit for attempts to take the NDA exam?
Answer: There is no limit to the number of attempts, candidates can apply for the NDA examination till they fulfill other eligibility criteria.

Question: How to fill NDA 2019 Application Form?
Answer: The application forms for NDA 2019 is available online on the official website of UPSC (www.upsconline.nic.in). Registration Procedure comprises of two steps, first, fill the application form as per the given instructions, and, second, remit the application fee of INR 100, either by online or offline mode.

Question: Will it create an issue if I fill up two forms for NDA Exam?
Answer: No, it will not create any issue. You can fill another form at the same time, with a different email id and it will be accepted by the authority.

Question: Can I fill another form if I made mistake in filling up one form?
Answer: Yes, you can fill another form, if you have made mistake in filling your current form. UPSC does not accept forms with same email id, so you need a new email id, to fill up another form. Also, you have to be very careful while filling the application form to avoid any mistakes.

Question: Is uploading picture/signature/thumb impression compulsory?
Answer: Yes, it is compulsory to upload a passport size picture, signature and thumb impression (if asked) while filling in the application form, or else the form will be rejected. Also, make sure that the uploaded documents are in the correct resolution as mentioned on the application form.

Question: Does the authority need to be informed after filling up two forms?
Answer: No, if you have made any mistake in filling the form or you have filled another form then you do not need to inform the authority.

Question: Is it important to resize the photo and signature?
Answer: Yes, resizing your photo and signature according to the guidelines of the resolution is very important, otherwise, your application form will be rejected.

Question: How can I resize my photo?
Answer: To resize your photo and signature to the stated resolution, you must first open the image using MS Paint. Choose the 'Resize' option from the toolbar at the top. A shape and slant box will display. Click on the 'Pixels' option in the box-shaped part and uncheck the 'Maintain Ratio' option. Then enter the required pixel size, and it is done.

Question: What is the application fee of NDA Examination?
Answer: After filling the application form, applicants have to send the application fee of INR 100 either through online mode or offline mode.

Question: How can I remit the application fee?
Answer: Students who want to pay via offline mode are required to deposit the money in any branch of SBI (State Bank of India) or they can remit the fee online by using net banking facility/Visa/Master Credit Card/Debit Card.

Question: How many seats are available as per NDA exam?
Answer: The number of seats available varies from year to year. Last year, in NDA & NA II, there were 375 seats, out of which 208 were for army, 42 for Navy, 55 for Naval Academy and 70 for Air Force.

Question: Is there a fees exemption for backward category students?
Answer: Yes, there is a fee exemption for SC/ST/OBC/PH Applicants/Sons of JCOs/ORs/NCOs.

Question: How can I select examination centers for NDA Exam?
Answer: While filling the application form, candidates have to select their preferred exam center for NDA Exam 2019 from the given list of cities. However, allotment of exam center will be done on the first-apply-first-allotment basis.

Question: What is the required dimension for photo?
Answer: The dimension of the passport size photograph should not exceed 40KB and should not be less than 3 KB in size. Also, it has to be uploaded in .jpeg format.

Question: Do I have to send the hard copy of the application form?
Answer: No, candidates do not have to send hard copy of their filled application form or any other document / certificate / testimonial to UPSC office.

Question: Is it necessary to take a print out of the submitted application form?
Answer: It is not compulsory, but, candidates are advised to take a print out of their submitted application form for the record. By doing this, you will have a proof that you have successfully applied for NDA Exam and, also, you can refer to the information you have filled anytime.

Question: Can a married person apply for NDA?
Answer: No, a person must be unmarried to apply for the NDA examination.

Question: What is meant by ‘fictitious payment’?
Answer: Names of candidates whose payment confirmations were not received by UPSC is displayed under this category of ‘fictitious payment’. Your application forms won’t be cancelled, you just have to prove that you did pay the fees successfully.

Question: Is registration number important to remember?
Answer: Yes, the registration number which will be provided to you while filling Part-1 of the application form is very important for all future references.
