| NDA Exam Pattern and syllabus 2019 |
NDA 2019 exam was conducted twice a year through offline mode (written test). The exam consists of 2 sections- Mathematics and General Aptitude Test. The total duration of NDA 2019 was jointly 5 hours for both classes.
When the candidates pass the written examination they will proceed to the NDA SSB interview process.

Stage 1: Written Exam:
The written exam will take place in two papers:
- Mathematics
- General Ability
General Ability is bifurcated into two parts: Part A (English) and Part B (GK).
- Candidates will get a duration of two and a half hours each day for both the papers.
- wherein Mathematics will carry 300 marks and General Ability will carry 600 marks.
Stage 2: Intelligence and Personality Test:
The SSB procedure is further divided into two stages: Stage I that includes Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and Picture Perception/ Description Test (PP&DT). The candidates will be shortlisted based on combination of performance in OIR test and PP and DT.
Stage II on the other hand, comprises of Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests and the Conference. These tests will take place over a period of four days.

NDA 2019 Marking Scheme
NDA consists of two sections- Mathematics and General ability test.- There will be 120 questions of total 300 marks in Mathematics section. All the questions will be of 2.5 marks, which will be allotted to select only the correct answer. 0.83 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
- The general ability test will consist of 600 marks, 200 marks are allotted to English and a total of 400 marks are allotted to General Knowledge. There will be a total of 150 questions in this section, 50 from English and 100 from General Knowledge.
- In this section, candidates will be given 4 marks for each correct answer.
- There will be a deduction of 1.33 marks for each wrong answer. There will be no mark for unanswered questions.

General Ability Test will have questions from various subjects like General Knowledge (GK), English, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, General Science and Current Events.
Most of the questions asked in NDA exam will come from Mathematics especially from 10 + 2 level. For the preparation of General Ability Test section, candidates should read the newspaper on daily basis.
