UPSC conducts NDA examination to select qualified candidates as qualified candidates. NDA selection process consists of two stages - Written Examination and SSB Interview. First of all, all the candidates who have filled the NDA registration form have to appear in the written examination. Candidates who have passed the written examination will have to appear for the SSB interview for the Intelligence and Personality Test.

Selection Process for NDA

NDA selection process 2019 is mainly divided into two phases -  
  1. written exam 
  2. SSB interview
Candidates selected on the basis of their performance in the written examination are required to participate in the NDA selection procedure to know more details –

NDA Selection Process 2019 – Written Exam

Written examination is the first stage of selection of candidates. Only successful candidates of the first phase will be invited to participate in the next round. Details about written examination are given below -
  • The written examination consists of two subjects - Mathematics and General Aptitude Test (GAT)
  • Total marks for written test is 900 marks.
  • Duration of the exam is 180 minutes.
  • The test paper will have objective type questions.
  • The language of question paper of both the subjects will be determined in Hindi and English.
  • Candidates must secured at least 25% NDA selection marks in each subject of written examination.
NDA Selection Procedure 2019 – SSB Interview (Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test)
SSB interview is the second and final round of NDA selection process.

  • SSB Interview consists of two separate tests – Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test.
  • Selected candidates need to report to the Selection Centers / Air Force Selection Boards / Naval Selection Boards
  • Such candidates need to undergo stage-one test at the respective selection centers
  • Candidates qualifying the stage one test will be selected for the second stage
  • Candidates who qualifies stage two are required to submit the original certificates along with a photocopy of the following certificates -
  1. Original Class 10 or equivalent certificate in support of date of birth,
  2. Original Class 10 or equivalent certificate in support of educational qualification.

Documents Required for NDA Selection Process

All documents must be taken in original as well as photostat copies. Failure to carry any of the necessary documents could lead to disqualification of the candidate.
  • Original 10 + 2 or Class 12th pass certificate or equivalent in support of educational qualification.
  • Certificate of eligibility for certain category of students.
  • Cast or Cast Certificate applicable for SC, ST, OBC etc.
  • Identity and address proof

NDA Selection Procedure 2019 – Reasons for disqualification

Candidates may be disqualified from the training course and admission process of the academy if any of the following appears to be the case:
  • Candidates who have selected to NDA or 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme of Indian Naval Academy earlier but has been removed due to lack of officer-like qualities or on disciplinary grounds will not be selected.
  • Candidates who were withdrawn previously from NDA or Indian Naval Academy on medical grounds or left voluntarily are eligible for admission provided they qualify the medical fitness test.
